About
My name is David Parsons and I have been using WordPress for about 5 years now. Before i discovered WordPress, I used to design all of my old pages in html and php when needed. The main advantages I noticed WordPress had compaired to these old methods was:
- It’s free!
- They took the coding out of the equation for making a website. You get login information and are taken to a dashboard. You edit pages almost as if they were word documents
- They have a 5 minute install.
- The community is huge and there are hundreds of people willing to help you. There are many people at the forums at all times.
- There are thousands of free plugins and themes (this alone will save you hundreds of hours of time). For instance, before I had to build contact forums on my own in php. Now I just install a plugin and make the code in a matter of minuets.
When I first discovered WordPress, it took me a while to learn how to work with it and what are the best practices. Most of my information and tips came from other websites and blogs, like this one. This is my main reason for starting this blog, to help out the WordPress community. I have been blogging on several other sites for the past 5 years and have been designing websites for about that long as well.
Goals and Where to Start
My main goal with this site is to make it easy for someone to enter the site, learn how to setup a wordpress site, learn how to market it, and finally learn how to optimize it. I have done this mainly though creating a Start Here page. After going through those posts, I suggest that you subscribe to the blog to get weekly updates on the best WordPress marketing practices.
